Marie Forleo and “Everything's Figureoutable”, Loran Joly

In 2020, Marie Forleo wrote “EVERYTHING IS FIGUREOUTABLE”.

I bought several copies, listened to videos, attended several of her webinars…

These are my reflections, an hour in length, regarding her phrases “EVERYTHING”; “FIGUREOUTABLE”, and much more…

Including my ideas on…

WHY she said EVERYTHING; what she actually meant; the concepts of RESOURCES and CONSTRAINTS- from an OPERATIONS RESEARCH point of view; and how the area of “free will” and “determinism” play roles in what is difficult to DO, IF we CANNOT MUSTER NECESSARY RESOURCES or LOWER xyz CONSTRAINTS;

AS WELL AS FASCINATING STORIES FROM MY LIFE, OF SOME PEOPLE WHO LEARNED KEY THINGS IN LIFE FROM TOXIC ENVIRONMENTS, INCLUDING MY EXPERIENCES FROM HAVING SPOKEN FOR TWENTY HOURS, WITH A MAN WHO SPENT FIVE YEARS IN A MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON – RIKER’S ISLAND – FOR ARMED ROBBERY; AND EXPERIENCES WITH SOMEONE WHO SPENT TIME IN PRISON FOR REASONS UNKNOWN, BUT HAD EXPERIENCED “DIFFICULTIES” AND LATER WAS ON DISABILITY…

THESE TWO MEN SHOWED ME NEW VIEWS ON THE TOPICS OF “RESOURCES”, “CONSTRAINTS”, “THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS”, AND MUCH MORE…

NOW, FOR A QUICK LOOK AT HOW I GARNERED SOME VIEWS ON “EVERYTHING IS FIGUREOUTABLE” AS APPLIED TO SOMEONE I SPENT MANY HOURS TALKING TO – NOT IN PRISON- WHO HAD BEEN IN RIKERS ISLAND FOR FIVE YEARS, WE CAN SEE WHAT HE WENT THROUGH:

I have a degree in electrical engineering from West Point; I also studied a course at the graduate level at the University of Kentucky, in 1987, in Operations Research. Twenty years later, I studied Mathematics for four years at the half-time level at Berea College, taking only Mathematics courses, and tutored for three of those four years in the Berea College Mathematics Department, ten hours a week. I also did paid tutoring and pro bono tutoring to an individual.

Mother, Lydia, the Flower Gardener, at age of 87, after Doctor Appointment!

Lydia J, at a local restaurant after visiting the doctor on November 1st, 2024, at the age of 86.

She is now 88.

She was tired!

Here she is, a few years earlier, at Rockcastle River Trading Company, with one of the Carloftiss sisters:

“My eldest sister, Carcille Carloftis Burchette, was Valedictorian at Livingston High School, Valedictorian at Cumberland College, was Miss Congeniality and Maid of Spring in Miss Kentucky 1969, was most kids favorite teacher in Corbin, she started the Gifted and Talented Program there and was at least 3rd in the state against big Catholic schools in Louisville and Lexington for 10 years, is on the Corbin School Board (we donated our design and labor and are giving plants at wholesale in our busiest season because she is a spectacular human being and I’m proud to have her as my big sis!) and will be the next President of the Kentucky State Garden Clubs... guess what? It will be named the Carcille Carloftis Burchette Courtyard!”
